What should replace EU funding?

The UK Government has said that they will introduce a UK Shared Prosperity Fund to replace EU structural funds. Meanwhile the Scottish Government is consulting to develop their thinking around what replacement funding should look like.

The Civil Society Brexit Project, together with SCVO and GCVS, gathered together a range of organisations to discuss what this replacement funding should look like.

Key ‘red lines’ emerging included:

  • it must be accessible to smaller organisations with proportionate bureaucracy
  • it must be up-front and long-term
  • it must target disadvantaged and marginalised communities, not be about mainstream programmes or replacing other funding

You can read a summary of these discussions held in Glasgow and Inverness.
